Any faculty member who is party to a dispute, or an academic administrator by way of referral, may request Faculty Peer Mediation.
To request mediation, please call the Center for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion at (858) 246-1923. To maintain confidentiality, we do NOT accept requests via email.
You will be asked to provide a brief description of the issue(s). If the issue(s) appear to be suitable for mediation, the Mediation Coordinator will contact each party to secure voluntary agreement and schedule a session. If a party declines to participate in peer mediation, the Coordinator will notify the initiating party and provide other options for resolution.
Mediations are scheduled during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, subject to the availability of the mediators.
Parties should allow up to two hours for a mediation session. The length of the mediation will be determined by how much time is needed to work through the issue(s). If the process is not completed within the two-hour timeframe, additional sessions may be scheduled.
Mediation sessions are held on central campus in a neutral location, unless the parties agree to another location.
